KRISTINA DYBDAHL – NEW COPENHAGEN FITNESS MERMAID
by Andrew Michalak
Copenhagen famous statue of Little Mermaid (from a fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen) has been a symbol of women’s beauty and shape in the 20th century. But now Copenhagen has had a new role model of beauty and shape, bodyfitness star Kristina Dybdahl. Her point of view on a modern woman’s physique is a bit different – “My ideal physique is a feminine muscular physique. After 3 years of aerobic training only, I discovered that weight training was the key to the physic of my dreams.”
Kristina was born in Vordingborg, outside Copenhagen, and had been deeply involved in horse riding till she turned 17. She also competed in Ju-jitsu, but when she started the weight-training at 16, she loved it.
Kristina began to compete in 2003, wining Danish Nationals in fitness and bodyfitness in 2004 and 2005 and then she tried international contests. She participated in 2007 and 2008 Swedish Grand Prix and Loaded Cup, and never failed, always being the No. 1. Her current plans are to compete 2008 Nordic Championships and 2009 European.
